How to Choose the Right Sungrow Battery

Which Sungrow battery should I choose for a residential PV system?
For residential PV with up to 24 kWh storage, the MGL060 (6 kWh wall-mount) is the easiest choice — pairs with MG8RL and MG10RL hybrid inverters. For 16–320 kWh modular storage with the full MG hybrid range, choose MBL160.
What is the difference between MBL160 and MGL060?
MGL060 is a 6 kWh wall-mount battery (IP65, indoor/outdoor) compatible only with MG8RL/MG10RL inverters. MBL160 is a 16 kWh floor-stand battery (IP20, indoor only) compatible with the full MG5/6/8/10RL family. MBL160 has higher cycle warranty (8,000 cycles vs 6,000) and is scalable to 320 kWh.
Does the ST255CS-2H need an external inverter?
No. The ST255CS-2H PowerStack includes an integrated 125 kW PCS, delivering AC output directly. It is a complete plug-and-play C&I BESS solution.
Are Sungrow batteries compatible with third-party inverters?
MGL060 and MBL160 are designed specifically for Sungrow MG hybrid inverters. The ST255CS-2H is fully self-contained. For third-party compatibility refer to the official Sungrow battery compatibility list (CAN protocol, 30+ approved brands).
